Attorney Marc Kohnen

Marc Kohnen was born in Denmark, but spent his childhood and early adult years in the Washington, D.C. area, Cincinnati, Ohio, Burlington, Vermont and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Mr. Kohnen attended the University of Vermont, graduating in 1999.

Prior to being sworn in as an attorney, Marc Kohnen worked as a College Football Coach near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and lived in Negril, Jamaica, as a tour guide, but could not ignore the conviction that one day he would change careers to become a criminal defense attorney.

In 2002, Mr. Kohnen began Law School at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, in San Diego, California, from where he graduated in 2006. Mr. Kohnen began working for one of San Diego's most prominent criminal defense firms as a law clerk in his first year of law school, and gained invaluable experience beyond the classroom working first as a law clerk, upon cases that gained national media attention; as seen on "48 Hours,” “Court TV,” “Rita Cosby MSNBC Live & Direct,” and "The O'Reilly Factor."

Even prior to graduating law school, Mr. Kohnen worked on many high-profile San Diego and Federal cases, including murder trials, violent crimes, sex crimes, theft crimes, drug cases, DUI defense, domestic violence and multiple cases which achieved nationwide media exposure. During this same period of time, Mr. Kohnen perfected his motion writing skills, preparing filing after filing, motion after motion, and sentencing memorandums in conjunction with the hundreds of clients he helped the firm defend.

After Mr. Kohnen graduated law school, and passed the bar on his first attempt, once again Marc Kohnen chose to follow his life-long ambition; to open his own criminal defense firm to represent those accused of criminal conduct by the government. Despite the obstacles involved, in 2008 Mr. Kohnen made his dream a reality, opening The Law Office of Marc S. Kohnen, A.P.L.C. Located at 852 5th Ave, Suite 315, in San Diego California, Mr. Kohnen’s law practice is dedicated to defending the rights of the criminally accused against prosecution by the State of California and the Federal Government.
